Should my Fraternity do the Biblical Series?

Yes. The Biblical Series is the surest path to a continued life of prayer, asceticism, and fraternity after Exodus 90 and Exodus Lent. It's the surest way to keep you from sliding back into old habits or compromising your newfound freedom.

What is the Biblical Series?

The Biblical Series is a response to the cry for a clear way forward from years of Exodus Men before you. It is a roadmap to a continued life of freedom and formation after Exodus 90 and Exodus Lent. Starting from the first verses of the Book of Genesis your fraternity will work your way through the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

The Biblical Series is a set of exercises structured like Exodus 90. Exodus 90 and Exodus Lent are really challenging and transitioning back to "normal life" afterward can be difficult. The Biblical Series begins with a refreshing 21-day period of reflection and feasting after Easter while reflecting on the first 3 chapters of the Book of Genesis.

What if my fraternity isn't certain yet?

If your fraternity can't yet see the need for the Biblical Series yet, no worries. Be patient with them. Nearly every Exodus Man sees the need for ongoing structure in their life of prayer, asceticism, and fraternity within 1-4 weeks after the end of their first Exodus spiritual exercise (Exodus 90, Lent, or Advent).

As you focus on finishing your first Exodus spiritual exercise together, your next step is to select a date to celebrate. That is, set your next fraternity meeting after the end of your first Exodus spiritual exercise. There, you can revisit the topic. Or at least assure that your fraternity keeps meeting together.

Whether your fraternity is ready to set a start date today, or they need a few weeks to breathe, keep meeting as a fraternity. If you do this, the Lord will bless you and those you love through you.

Can new men join the Biblical Series?

Having accomplished something like Exodus 90 and seeing the benefits in your life, it is natural to want to share it with others in your life. Do that! If there are other men that may be interested in joining your fraternity for the Biblical Series, ask them! If you see that your friends John and Paul would benefit by being a part of your fraternity, reach out to each with a personal invitation!

One thing to note: Genesis 1-3, the first exercise in the Biblical Series, reflects on what you have just accomplished (i.e. Exodus 90 or Exodus Lent). If a man is joining your fraternity and hasn't done one of these, that isn't a problem! Just set that expectation for him (he may not connect as well with those reflections as with the subsequent reflections).

Freedom vs. Formation

Freedom is a huge part of formation and, in fact, one of the best starting blocks to impactful formation. If we are not free from the things that have formed us in the past, then we are not able to be formed by Christ alone!

Exodus 90 is all about freedom; the Biblical Series is all about formation.
